It’s a new day at Hutchinson Hospital. We’ve changed our name to Promise Regional Medical Center, a name that more accurately affirms our daily commitment to provide extraordinary care for every patient and patient family member. Our new name is a reflection of our commitment to remain a strong, steady force in our community and region. The men and women who first championed Hutchinson Hospital over 30 years ago championed a profound legacy on which we proudly continue to build for the next 30 years. As president and chief executive officer of the hospital I promise we will deliver quality health care services for the well being of Hutchinson and the surrounding region. I promise that I will support our talented medical staff as they pioneer new technologies, lead clinical trials and treat each patient with compassion. I promise anyone passing through our doors will discover an experience that is unexpected, exceptional and inspirational. I promise a system of care that is ready to treat your mind, body and spirit. I promise we will care for our patients and their families as our first, best and most important priority. Over the coming months you’ll experience changes at our facility and in our website that inspire health and wellness. Our highest priority—our promise—is to deliver quality care in a welcoming, peaceful, healing environment. Sincerely, Linda Harrison President/CEO

How was the name Promise Regional Medical Center selected? We believe the name is a precise mirror of our core values: A commitment to excellence in all areas (medical/service/experience). Desire to deliver an unexpected and unsurpassed experience (patient, patient family, doctor and staff). Compassionate contact with every patient every time. Passion to be legacy builders with a vision to leave the Hospital in a better place for future generations. Commitment to serve as a facilitator of regional care. We are developing pathways to partnerships—physician and community—which lead to better healthcare. A strong, sustained focus on community relationships. Desire to be personal champions for our patients. Our name was chosen to spark something larger in the minds and spirits of the people who come to work here every day, and our patients and their family members. We want to communicate participation with patients in the process of healing and recovery. What is the thought behind the tagline, Inspired CareSM? Our new tagline conveys there is more than just quality medical treatment behind the doors of Promise Regional Medical Center Hutchinson. It is commonly believed that hope, trust and faith are critical components of a patient’s healing process and their overall outcome. Has ownership of the hospital changed? No! Our vision, rather, has been enlarged. The world in which we operate has changed. As Hutchinson’s largest employer and only hospital, we have a responsibility to keep pace with that change. Nearly 2,000 men and women walk through our doors every day to care for and serve their friends and neighbors. Payroll is approximately $43 million and the hospital’s economic impact on the county is more than $65.5 million, making it a valuable asset to the city and county. What’s driving change at the hospital? At the top of the list are these factors: new medical technologies and knowledge new electronic information and communications systems reimbursement issues our aging facility competitive market forces changing consumer demographics and expectations responsibility for community health What physical changes are expected at Promise Regional Medical Center? Facility upgrades, renovations and a phased construction plan are important next steps for us. What would be included in the new construction? Planned new construction includes a new critical care tower that will house an emergency department, cardiac catheterization lab, intensive care/coronary care unit, progressive care unit and pulmonary care unit. Each of these critical care services will be located together to improve response time in emergency situations. How many people does the hospital serve each year? According to a new economic impact study, the hospital served 66,000 patients from the central Kansas region in 2006, including more than 2,000 charitable patients. One priority of our name change is to remind the people we serve that we’re a regional medical provider, serving Hutchinson, Reno County and surrounding communities with easy access, Midwestern values and exceptional medical care. It’s important that our constituencies understand that we’re always in pursuit of clinical trials, the latest technology and best practices. Many of our physicians have received worldwide attention for pioneering new technologies and techniques. That’s significant. What is meant by an experience of care? It’s a value that is represented both in our personal demonstration of care for our patients and their family members, and in the ways we treat mind, body and spirit through improvements to our physical environment. An important goal of facility improvements is to bring the outdoors in, creating peaceful, healing surroundings. We want everyone who walks through the doors of Promise Regional Medical Center—Hutchinson to experience hope. When we work together to treat the mind, body and spirit, we can genuinely say we deliver inspired care.
