Boy, leave town for a few weeks and things do change! Returned to find my favorite cantina and 1 of the franchise restaurants slipping badly. The biggest - and bestest - surprise, tho, was Jillian's, with 2 great new menu items. The succulent seared tuna with wasabi - easy does it! - and grilled veggies is a tasty option to those of us trying to eat healthy while eating well - and a good change of pace from the grilled salmon and asparagus (don't ever drop that!) The mouth-watering eggplant parmesan, tho, is an answer to my prayers. I'm a nut for it any time, anywhere and Jillian's' is a knockout. The eggplant is quite crispy and the cheese & herbs prepared to just the right proportions. Add to that a touch of bechamel sauce between layers and it's the best i"ve had in many years! So thanx, Jill & Gary. Le bonton roule!

The bread with the meal and the pizza is the best thing on the menu. The pasta I got was overcooked and the olive oil was sitting in the bottom of the dish. The inside is beautiful but when I go out to eat I go out because I want to eat something that tastes better then what I can cook at home.

Visited Last night, here from out of town and hoping to find a good place to eat with my wife, my sister and her husband, and a friend. Had the red wine flight, Starborough Sauvignon Blanc, mussels. - all very good For dinner, had the parmesan salmon, shrimp diavolo, prime rib special, ravioli, and ribeye. Service was good. Not excellent, but not really lacking, either. The food did arrive a little later than I would have preferred, but was quite good, about a 7.5 - 8 out of 10... and I say this compared to and used to some of the best restaurants in Houston, Dallas, etc. Overall, an very nice surprise, and must visit for "upscale dining" in Hutchinson. Very reasonable -- our part of the ticket -- two dinners, all the wine, two cups of soup at 77.00$ (not incl. tip) - actually a very good deal.

I wrote my original review yesterday, because I had agreed to try it again last night. My first visit was shortly after opening, so I hoped they had ironed out any problems. Wrong. Even worse. There were about 4 tables with customers. We were a table of 7 -- and it took over an hour (no kidding) to get our entrees, (and that was after waiting about 35 minutes for appetizer and salads. Once again, my pasta (PASTA -- this is supposed to be an Italian restaurant!) -- was way overcooked, my son's medium steak and nephew's medium beef medallions were cooked well-done (if not well done plus). My brother's pork had way too much salt. We should have complained, but after having been there over an hour and a half at that point, no way was I going to stay another hour for them to try and figure out how to cook spaghetti and steak. My complaint will come in the form of my NEVER wasting money at this place again. Really too bad -- Hutch needs decent restaurants, but this isn't it.
Sort of good things:
Our waitress was very nice, and did apologize once (after about 45 mins) that it was taking so long;
The bread was good;
Salad was passable, but certainly nothing special;
My daughter said her mussels were good;
the pizza we had as an appetizer was good, although the crust was mushy in the middle part of the pie;
house red wines were fine, but were served in a very small white wine glass, and it was filled maybe about 2/3rds.
For this, I paid $180, which includes a tip (reasonable for 7 people, I know -- IF the food is cooked properly and served within a reasonable amount of time). I only left a tip because it wasn't the waitresses fault -- it seemed to be the fault of two VERY young cooks who could not manage to get out well prepared food in a timely manner, when there were only 4 tables being served the entire 2+ hours we were there.
Jillian's is pretty and has a nice atmosphere. I think Hutch is so starved for that, and for something better than national chains, and a nice place to take out of town guests or business associates, that Jillian's will get by with their horribly slow service and poorly prepared food for awhile -- but I can't imagine that people will continue to overlook the real problems for long, especially if a better alternative ever comes along.

I have to believe that some of these negative reviews were written by jealous competitors. Jillian's is absolutely the best place to eat in Hutch. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, the service is outstanding, the menu selection is broad and the decor is the best in Hutch! I eat out 3-4 times a week, between lunch and dinner and have tried every restaurant in Hutch. If you drive up main street on a Friday night, you will see that Jillian's is packed. People vote with their feet and their $$$ and Jillian's is great! I recommend a reservation for dinner, but there is no need for a lunch reservation

I have to believe that you are employed by Jillians. The food is not delicious and the service was terrible, but yes, the decor is very pleasing. btw, everywhere in Hutch is packed on Friday/Saturday nights.

Great food,service and atmosphere. Definitely give the Wood-Fired pizza a try. The Caesar salad is as fresh as you will every have in a restaurant. This place rocks!! If you have not visted go for lunch when it is less crowded. Then make a reservation for dinner when you leave.

Very dissapointing. I ordered soup and a sandwich and both came back wrong. The bar staff was busy flirting with men at the bar so we never got to order another drink. No ambience at all, seemed more like a diner than a family Italian restaurant, was not greeted with warm bread sticks and olive oil so no authenticity either.

WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! Pizza was alright, pasta was flavorless. What a let down to have done such work to a building and yet have so much lacking in the food AND service. Complained politely, guess it fell on deaf ears. Very disappointing.
